FAQ
What is As Above?
As Above is an ongoing fantasy series set in the kingdom of La’Silrey after the death of the “Immortal Queen” at the hands of one of the Seven High Priests. With the kingdom destabilized, powers from across this land must come together to rebuild. A country once frozen in time, La’Silrey is now shaken apart by change.
Part 1: The Summit kicks off this series as La’Silrey prepares for this meeting of leaders amidst a divisive uprising. Conspiracies run wild and loyalties are frail as the late queen’s daughters, the Council, the regional leaders, and the Seven Priesthoods forge unlikely alliances and disastrous rivalries.
As Above is written by Hudson Vera, known on social medias as “Cazimiz”. This story is his magnum opus that began development in 2009, culminating to finally hit the page in 2024.
What is Unfortunate?
Unfortunate is the prequel series to As Above written in Winter of 2023 and published between February and April of 2024. It follows the character Pan, a quick-tempered thief from the Kingdom of Commons as they learn magic from the God King Mes. Set to the themes of the Major Arcana of the tarot, this series tells of how La’Silrey’s founding came to be.
This project was conceptualized in 2023 after the creation of Pan’s character inspired a more intimate story within La’Silrey’s past. After years of writing Mes as a revered figure of legend, Pan’s story posed the opportunity to show who the mysterious “Old King” really was.
Hudson Vera set out to create and finish this comic with three intentions in mind: make a comic, finish a comic, and learn what he didn’t know. He succeeded in all three goals and the result is a quirky and fun read. Don’t let the amateurish art style and quick pacing fool you, there’s plenty of lore and thematic messaging to find in this story.
What is Mercury’s House Comics?
Mercury’s House Comics is an independent platform created by Hudson Vera to solve a few key issues he had in wanting to publish comics. Those issues being: divest from dependence payment subscription platforms, have full control over organization and presentation of the site, be unbeholden to potentially aggressive terms of services, and release his comics with long term goals kept in mind for a strong foundation.
Launched in late Spring of 2024, Mercury’s House Comics has come a long way from the days of a single chapter cover linking to the three pages of As Above’s prologue. The site now has much to offer, including two comics, Character Bios for all debuted As Above characters, a Member’s Feed for exclusive paid-subscription content, an Art Feed to feature all of the full art pieces done outside of chapter releases, News & Updates, and much more!
The added advantage of a single, independently owned platform is an opportunity to create a wider presentation of canon material, without being restricted by existing-publisher’s structures.
Where do I start?
If you can get past the amateur art of Unfortunate, then it’s recommended to start there for the full impact and easter eggs in As Above. Lots of foreshadowing towards the wider narrative is woven into that short, seemingly simple story. It’s roughly 120 pages and can be read in one day if you have the time.
If Unfortunate doesn’t sound interesting to you, jump right into Chapter 1 of As Above. Once you love it, go back and read Unfortunate to see what pieces you can start to put together.
What is the upload schedule?
Previously, As Above was on a once a month schedule. However, over Summer 2025, the need to have a more flexible upload schedule was announced in order to manage promotions and improve quality and length of chapters for better pacing. Uploads will be consistent with a timeline between 4-8 weeks for each chapter and plenty of content to enjoy in between through the Member’s Feed, Art Feed, and social media activity.
Who is Cazimiz?
Cazimiz, real name Hudson Vera, is a disabled, independent artist based in the USA. He started off making astrology meme comics in online spaces in the 2020s. After learning Hellenistic Astrology and practicing professionally, he eventually left these spaces to focus on art and pursuing his life long goal of creating a comic. He integrates his background in Linguistics and ESL education, multiple branches of more esoteric astrological concepts, and a love of animation into the stories he writes.

What are the differences in the paid tiers?
Currently there are no differences in the paid tiers and they are set up with the vision of a sliding scale support model. It’s possible that this could change in the future to divide exclusive content by subscription tiers. But as of now, since this project is managed by Hudson Vera on his own, priorities need to be flexible in managing promotions, production, and more. This means that some months may have more exclusive content released than others.
If you are able to support the project monetarily, please consider doing so! You would be supporting a disabled, independent artist amidst a very difficult market.
Can’t offer any financial support? Then consider the free tier and drop comments as often as you’d like on chapters, posts, and art! Letting others see that this site is very much alive may help other visitors to know that they are welcome to interact and stick around.
What are your Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Model policies?

Can I post screenshots of the comic on social media?

Full page re-uploads, even to color, are prohibited.
Small cropped images for personal, non-profit use without ads on social media accounts for the sake of sharing a love of the story will be permitted as long as this is not abused. Mercury’s House Comics and the creator HD reserves the right to revoke this permission at any point without explanation or warning. We kindly request that any uploads of our original content be ran through Glaze first.
Re-uploaded content for the sake of bypassing payment is strictly prohibited. I’m an independent artist and creator, not a corporate entity, don’t be a dick.
Can I create fan content? Edits/fanfiction/fan art?
Yes! Please send it to me if you do! You can email it directly or tag me on any social media.
For edits, please follow the previous protocol with regards to reuploading cropped screen captures of the pages.
Note: Use of these characters in racist or hateful depictions is prohibited.
What are the comics rated?
Unfortunate is an appropriate read for most readers. But please be aware that there are themes of existentialism, death, war, hunger, loss, and grief that may be upsetting to some readers.
As Above is meant to be “adult entertainment” but currently does not feature any explicit content. It is still advised for mature readers as the long-term story will include more sensitive topics; including but not limited to: death, violence, blood, profanity, loss, grief, mental health, war, and more.
Neither story is recommended for readers under 16 years of age.
